Ducklings Feeding After Hatching

I am a first time hatcher. We have Pekins the first 2 that poked holes to come out are still in the eggs. Its been3 days now 2more have hatched great. I know i need to be patient but how do i know if i need to help a bit? And how do i help them?

Hi MommaG, Ducks can take 2-3 days from first pip to hatching, For some reason ducks seem to prefer to come out of their shells over night. If it has been 3 days they may need help. Usually it is just a matter of being patient and letting it just happen. If there is no movement or peeping it may be time to assist. An assisted hatch is risky for the bird. Keep in mind the time are longer for ducks, but all the principles are the same.

I have a mama duck sitting on eggs with one that has hatched yesterday morning....how long can that one survive without food or water?
