Ducklings from Meyer's showed up yesterday

I ordered 10 Runner ducks from Meyers (5 blue and 5 chocolate), they sent 11, (6 blues and 5 chocolate, though for the life of me I can't tell them apart). The arrived perky and cheeping up a storm. Got them home, they drank 1/2 quart of water in the first couple of hours and got their fill of Gro Gel. Started them on crumbles in the evening, busy little fellows.
This is my first experience with ducks.

Adorable! I have runner ducklings too. From the pic its real easy to see the color diff. Is that what you mean in not being able to tell them apart? The blue are a gray color and the chocolate are very brown.

These are all girls (supposedly), Meyers is willing to sell them sexed and allows purchase of extra females.
I'm getting my boys from a different place next month (Johnson's Waterfowl). They have Holderead line Runners but don't sell extra females.
Also though it would be a good idea to get my stock from unrelated sources (no inbreeding).

I'm partially color blind. Can't tell them apart to save my soul. They ALL look brown to me.

I bet when you get them out in normal light or put in them in the bathtub you will see it. And as the get bigger it will be more obvious

They do love water! I love watching ducklings and water. Its seems like the upgrades happen every few days! Mine are 2 1/2 weeks now. And 3- are 3 1/2 weeks and we finally are with a bowl and little bucket. It took me a while to feel safe leaving that in there since i had to be sure they wouldnt get stuck in them. But i found a small short bucket thats been working perfectly!
