Ducklings in the dark?

I’m getting ready to have my ducklings spend their nights outside. They’ve had the heat lamp on since they got here and I’m worried about how they’ll react to the dark. I turned the lights off in my room for about an hour and a half and they didn’t make a sound and didn’t get up to eat and drink like they normally do. Should I keep turning the lights off until they are outside or should I try a different approach?

It's best to wean them off that extra light. I like to do like you are doing by getting them used to it ahead of time. They will adapt after a few nights without it.
