Ducklings in the spring - hatcheries

Yeah, but not everyone can or wants to. Even if I wanted to adopt a duck, no one within 150 miles (yes I checked) has ducks for adoption.

And again, if you're getti bff ducks for meat, they'll not let you adopt.

And not everyone wants to fork over 100 bucks in fees for a duck that is older and that has an unknown history
adoption fees at most rescues are not too much, considering they are vetted and you know they are healthy

Thank you for answering this for me.
I definitely don't want to adopt ducks as I have children and especially want to know their origin. Hatcheries just won't do this for me.

I prefer to adopt my dogs and cats..but not my birds. I want them to be happy and grow with my children and animals.

I would really consider that statement. Even adopted pets are sometimes treated like garbage. Just because you pay for them from a rescue doesn't mean their treatment will be superior *OR HEALTHIER or better pets.

Here in Central Florida I looked at LRROF.org for a lab (the wait was way over 6+ months for a puppy since I have children under 7 and their fees were 350+ also) plus their fees were astronomical also BDRR in Ochochobee (350+). Rescues are insanely expensive. If I wanted to pay that I would have went after a PROPER, MONITORED, ETHICAL BREEDER.
I don't mind rescuing as I have two dogs I have rescued from a different organizations, and 3 cats.
I prefer to know my origin of my fowl though .I want to make sure the NPIP and being monitored for salmonella. I also have children so it's utmost importance I have to know their history, and the personality of these animals. These won't be just pets either - they will be eventually for consumption.
This may be great for some people just not a choice for my family.

Ive narrowed it down To a couple -
Welsh harlequin
Silver Appleyard
Black Swedish
Saxony

No idea if i want one of each or 2/3 of a few of these or just all one breed
If you're eating,I suggest the first 2. They're larger. Not sure the size of saxpny, but my black Swedish I used to have was always a smaller male
