Ducklings integration surprise 🤣

Mine are still not 100% getting along yet. We had them in the hut together with a divider for about a week and a half and then took it down. Much chasing occured. My Toke and Darla still chase the ducklings and Darla will grab the back of the two of the little ones heads but nothing serious occurs. It's like reality TV to watch them honestly. Darla and Toke chase the little ones (though they both seem more tolerant on the blue swedish, Dori) until the roens gets sick of the commotion and go after Darla and Toke.
When outside Buttercup seems to want to be friends with the young ones but the babies (mostly Beez and Mable) chase them off, the roens don't fight back and just run away and that triggers Darla and Toke to go after them. So much Drama!!!

But overall they are getting better day by day a little at a time. The other night Toke allowed the little ones to dig around in the straw instead of keeping them in time out in the corner and today was the first time I saw Buttercup in the pool with one of the little ones and Darla is chasing them with less enthusiasm and will sometimes tolerate them napping near where she is napping.

We are almost there! My assumption is that when winter hits they will albe more than happy to snuggle up together to stay warm (especially Darla who is the least cold tolerant)

Long process. I wouldn’t say mine are 100% but they have reached a truce for the most part. I still have the divider with the door/curtain in the house. There’s a little jockeying between the groups at first but they settle. I’m also hoping winter unites them into one flock. 🤞🏼

I went ahead and took the door divider out last night. While there was some mild chase/nip at first by the babies, they all seemed to do fine without it and settled in. Hoping this continues! I added a second cooler so they have plenty of options if they want to cuddle up inside.

Well the other day poor Mable was the unwilling recipient of my Drakes affections for the first time. Though I don't think it was too traumatic for her since today she initiated the interaction 😆.

Needless to say everyone continues to get along better slowly but surely. There's still some chasing on both sides but less often and only under certain circumstances now it seems. The girls wont all swim together though and Buttercup who would spend every moment in the pool gets chased out often. My dad feels bad for her (especially since her best friend SweetPea died a few weeks back) so he will separate them so she gets swim time haha. And some time ties Darla and Toke kick out the little ones so Buttercup can swim.

That's good news! I feel like mine have achieved about 99% integration. They will share the pond briefly now, nap together, and the bedtime situation sharing the house is good. The babies will get nippy if there are treats being handed out but they're doing well. Sounds like you are on the cusp!

Treats are a bit of an issue still we need to have a Little duck and big duck distribution. But I think that's mainly due to the individual personality since bother Darla (older duck) and Mable (younger duck) are very good motivated and go nuts with treats and that results in a bit of an issue - mostly Darla chasing the others away so she can get all the treats haha
