FrostHollow
Chirping
So this occured rather quickly as I didn't notice it at all two days ago when I was caring for my 6 older ducklings (10 and 8 weeks old within the group). My partner has been taking care of them for the past 48 hours because I've been dealing with a Lupus flare and I was called to come take a look at them about an hour ago during their splish splash time.
Almost all of them, aside from the Pekin and my two eldest, are missing feathers on their backs and sides. I noticed a ton of feathers coming off them in the bath as well as they preened and splashed and played. No one has any signs of mites or being itchy. I did notice a couple red areas, but I believe that to be because they were being rough in the bath and climbing over one another to get to the deeper end.
My partner did say that he noticed a bunch of them were caked in some placed with dried mash from their breakfast and he wondered if that had anything to do with it?
They are transitioning from baby down to adult feathering, so I'm wondering if that has something to do with it? No swollen joints, no wonky walking, no diahrreah - just typical duck poop and duck activity. They're all eating fantastically well and are on all flock mixed with duck crumbles and they receive salad greens, peas, and green beans on the regular. They also have a small tub of water so that they can drink and head dunk and clear their nostrils. Bedding is changed daily to keep the nasty little stinkers dry.
Am I missing something?
