I am a new duck owner. I have 2, 2 week old baby pekin ducks. I’ve realized one of them is sometimes making a “pfft” noise out their nostrils. I have a duck waterer and give them access to swimming/standing in the tub once a day since it’s too cold for them to swim outside. Is this normal for baby ducks or am I doing something wrong?

I just got ducks last year and I can't remember if I had any of them making that sound but of course I had 4 so that could be the difference. I'm trying to think about who it was that gave me some advice on ducks. I will check it out and give you the person's name.

What does your duck water look like? Is it deep enough for the ducklings to dunk their whole head into it?
Only two weeks old once a day in the tub is fine as long as it’s not for more than 10 - 15 minutes and they have something to stand on in there, and they go right back under the heat lamp afterwards

I got a duck waterer from tsc I will attach a picture below of what it looks like if it’s not the right one what should I be using for them?

Oh thank you so much for the picture. They are super adorable. I just love ducklings to the end of the Earth and back so much. I love them. Maybe the only thing I love more is goslings. Perhaps I just love them all the same, who can resist baby waterfowl!
The water works but it’s messy They’re going to spill a lot. If you want to save on mess and cleanup work, use a food container, like Rubbermaid or Tupperware, and cut holes in the lid, big enough for them to dunk their head in, but not their body. I can send you a picture of mine if you like.

Also, what is your bedding that you are using could be making them sneeze perhaps
Interesting I never thought of that I have chickens so I thought they would be alright with the flake shavings I use for the chickens as well.

id love a picture that would help so much! Im trying to give these ducks the best care and it’s going to take some learning I will take all the advice though! Should I replace the food container with the one that’s in there now or should I put them both in there? Also would that waterer be good for when they’re older or should I just retire it overall?
