Hey everyone!!
So last time I was here, Newt had begun laying eggs and I was worried Newt and Buzzard weren't mating.
There were a few times I thought they mated but I wasn't sure.

Today I decided to take Newt's eggs and candle them (which we have 6 now) and turns out they are fertile!
They look to be around day 10-ish.
So yes, Newt is gonna be a mother!

The main reason why I am posting this is to get an idea on what they might look like.
I do understand call ducks are difficult to hatch (out of 14 eggs, I only hatched 2 so I know I most likely will not hatch all 6 and maybe none of them at all)

So Buzzard is a pure-bred Snowy male call duck and Newt.. I'm not entirely sure. I thought she was a mix but I've seen a few people have call ducks that look like her and one of the ducks I saw, the owner said it was a Blue Dusky but I dunno if that is what Newt is.
Here are pictures of them:

(The first one is the most recent picture I have of him, the others are older pictures but he looks like any male Snowy)

And here is Newt:

(All of these pictures are older pictures besides the one with the egg but she looks the same)

Would anyone know what their babies could potentially look like or will it be a surprise?

I also have another question ('':
So when I was candling her eggs to see how far along they are, I noticed this egg..

It is very round and I'm worried it won't make it.
When I candled it, I noticed it's air cell is pretty big, almost half the egg. The duckling looks just as developed as the others but I'm afraid it wont have enough room to grow and if it does hatch I'm worried it might end up with some problems or be neglected.
What should I do?

I don't think there is anything you can do other than let it keep developing and hope for the best. Did you happen to candle the egg Before Newt began incubating it? It's possible it was a much older egg than the others, and that is why the air cell is larger. I am going to tag @Miss Lydia to also address your question, since she is a duck expert.

I did candle them before she was done laying all her eggs but I didn't see anything inside because she didn't start incubating them yet but I am pretty sure it is an older egg.

Even when an egg isn't incubating, the air cell slowly grows as the egg ages. Hot temperatures, a thin, porous egg shell and some other factors can cause the air cell to grow faster than normal. Hopefully the duckling will hatch successfully, even though it will be smaller than its siblings at hatch.

Hey again!!
So the ducklings should be hatching around next week but I do have another question!
The eggs are currently under Newt since shes very broody so I'm letting her lay on them. I was wondering since Calls usually have to be assisted if I should put them in my incubator a few days before they hatch or let Newt hatch them (but of course keep an eye on them in case I need to assist)?

I think it depends on the Call ducks. Is your Calls Show quality or pet quality. I think the SQ have a harder time hatching because their bills are so short. Pet quality probably don't have that problem. But let's get a call duck member to say for sure.
