Good morning everyone,

So I have two ducklings. One about 3 weeks and the other about 2 week. I am trying to introduce them to the outside. I live in Phoenix, Az. The weather here during the summer tends to be around 90-110 degrees. I take them out early morning when it’s not too hot. I provide them with enough water and even throw a little treats like lettuce and tomatoes so they keep themselves entertained. However, they seem to not want to be outside for long. They quack and quack 😂.. my fear is that when they are actually big enough to where they have to be outside, they will not get use to the heat. Is there any Arizona duck owners that can give me some advise?

I don't live in Arizona but I'm in FL and its 83 F here but feels like 90. I would first be sure that there are in the shade, have a pool, and maybe even a fan. Start with that and give them short amounts of time out there. Make it a bit longer each time. If they seem to like that and aren't keeping overheated you can remove the fan. Again, make it a bit longer. Once they get used to that they may be more comfortable in the heat. Be sure to reward them with plenty of treats.
Hope this helps

A 3-2 week old ducklings don’t feel real secure yet they would still be dependent on their mother. Do you stay out with them? Are they very secure.
Oops, I missed how young they were. In this case I would only let them out a bit with full supervision of course

Well I don’t know their exact ages. I am just guessing. In the video you can get an idea of how big they are. I only let them out for about an hour or two a day under my supervision but they only want to be out there for like 15 minutes 😂

Well, it's a start! The older they get the more comfortable they'll be.
