Ducks 101

Since I have a mixed flock too I use a NON GMO starter for babies and then change over to NON GMO layer and NON GMO 6 way grains. I am going to see if I can find an all flock in NON GMO at the feed store here since last time I was there they had gotten in a huge shipment of feed. Not many companies make an all flock. or not many feed stores carry it.

I'm currently feeding my chickens layer feed that's non gmo and soy free, so I would like to get an all flock feed like that, but its hard to find. The brand I have doesn't carry an all flock, but they have duck/goose feed. I was planning to free range the chickens and ducks together, then they would have access to each others food. Unless I lock them out of both coops/runs but then it would get complicated with ducks/chickens needing to lay an egg.

Mine just all eat the same feed and they all eat the Nutritional yeast I sprinkle over the feed too.

It is hard to find all floc in NON GMO if you come across any let us know. And I'll do the same.

So you feed all them layer feed (For chickens?) and 6 way grains? What birds do you have?
I know that the ducks need lots of niacin.
I did see that the brand Kalmbach has a feed for ducks and chickens, but it has soy.

The brand of the layer feed I'm buying right now is call H&H Feeds if you want to look at it.

I’ve never seen your brand I’ll have to see if the feed store has heard of it. I feed layer with 6 way grains added to cut the calcium since my drakes and roosters eat it.

I should have said this but the feed I buy I'm pretty sure you can only buy it in Texas.

Is there a way to make a duck pond/pool empty and fill on a timer?
Only downside of getting ducks is when we go on vacation because they pool would need to be changed a lot.

Not that I am aware of. We are super basic here, kiddie pool that we dump and fill every day.

You could do 5 gal buckets with holes cut out at the top for dunking while you’re gone. Just depends on your set up I guess.

I know some people use pumps and filters so they don't waste water. Would that be too complicated?
