Ducks and a pond

I have four ducks that are about 12 weeks old. They are 3 Peking 1 Cayuga. They are living in the Chicken area and have free access to a 1.5 acre pond. I am confused as to why I never find them in the pond. The first week or so that they had access they were always in the pond. Now, I can barely even chase them into the pond. I thought ducks like being in ponds?
Am I just expecting too much from my ducks?

Wonder if you have snapping turtles? they prey on young water fowl and even adults can be drowned and eaten by them. Your ducks maybe smarter than you think. There are ways to bait catch and release check out you tube
