Hi everyone! I have 21 chicken in the coop right now and they all get along perfectly. we just bought 4 ducks and 4 chicks (isa browns!) to add to our flock. Our chickens have been very accepting to new chicks in the past. do you have any tips for our introduction of the new ones? this is our first time adding ducks to the flock. do the ducks need their own coop or can they stay with the chickens? thanks!!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
I brood chicks in a built in brooder in the coop using a brooder plate. Integration starts around 4 weeks old.
Ducks are very messy with their water and would be better off in their own coop. That's just my opinion.

It’s nice to meet you!

:welcome

I also think ducklings and ducklings need to be brooded separately. Ducklings can get their surroundings wet and that could chill the chicks.

Best wishes!

Welcome to BYC. Given enough space, ducks and chickens can work, but they will be brutalized upon introduction, and as others have said they really mess up the feed/water/coop.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

I totally agree with the others here, ducks need their own housing. If you have any questions about your flock along the way, be sure to ask more questions. Welcome to our community!
