I have 1 male duck and 5 females in a flock of 18 chickens. I’ve never ever had an issue with a male duck mating a chicken. I feel like if you get a male duck and he has enough ladies he won’t bother the chickens at all. The only issues I’ve ever had was a young rooster trying to mate with a duck, which is pretty annoying but shouldn’t harm the duck. One more thing, if you do combine them make sure you have deep enough water that the ducks and rinse off their bill in it!Hey y'all! Just wanted to get some advice about keep ducks and chickens in the same flock. I know it's done, but before I do it, I want to know if there are any items I should know that may cause harm to my hens. I've heard of things like male ducks breeding hens, and it causing problems with the hens? I don't have ducks yet, but am looking to get some in the spring. I want to make sure I do the right things before I get anyThe ideal situation would be just female ducks with my flock of hens, but if I do happen to get a male, I want to know what I will be up against. Thanks guys!
