My male duck quacks all day long. But he does live with my chickens, including my rooster, and everyone gets along fine. I don't know about the nipple waterer thing cuz I use a heated dog bowl in the winter and let the chickens drink out of the kiddie pool (pond) all summer. The duck does make a mess but I also have a big run so the chickens are't really effected by it. I change the kiddie pool water every 2-3 days in the summer. We have pressurized irrigation though so it doesn't cost anything. If you are on city water it would get kinda spendy I would think. My duck doesn't get into the water that is in the hen house because the house is on stilts and he lives in a dog house under the hen house. Works out great. He is a runner duck though so I don't know if other breeds would be more likely to "fly" up into the hen house.
