ducks and noise

Quote:
Call ducks are loud for their size. they were bred to be loud to Call ducks flying over down to shotgun range, they were used as live decoys. Runners were bred to walk upright to get them to and from the out of town pastures rapidly. They "run" rather than waddle like other ducks. As far as I know they are the same for noise as other ducks.
I have never heard of chickens having water fights. ducks like to play in their baths they splash to try and get water onto their backs. They like to make mud puddles to root in for worms and other insects, How messy? well 10 ducks of mine used to manage to splash out 30 gallons of water from a small pool per day. On my clay soil that was a He ck of a mess, less on sandy soil not so bad. I hope this helped with your questions?

if you cant decide get runners coz they are so cute

, mine arent that loud but they are only 3 weeks and they unbelievably messy, i think you would get that with all ducks though but they are worth it lol

Runners aren't that bad as far as ducks go. The females can be loud but mostly when they want something from you. They are very messy though. 10 chickens in a stinky mud fight would be a more accurate description.

I have 6 runners about 9 months old. They aren't very noisy at all(I have had chickens and also have geese)- My geese are loud when greeting me. MY noisiest duck is a female minia:Dture Silver Appleyard. She sees me open the back door from a 100 feet away and you could hear her 1/4 mile! Funny how something that small can make that much noise! But I live in a rural area. And they don't make noise at night.
The runners seem the quiet in my estimation. Females quack some when being fed. Males only have a soft noise. NOthing lound or rawcous---- No it's the mini who is the noise queen.
