As long as they have the option of their shelter I'd say they're fine. They probably won't use it unless its to early their food. My ducks like rain but get a little annoyed with high winds.

As said, it is only my Indian Runners that are scared of the hose, they might think it is a huge snake, spitting on them so that they can be eaten easier. (?)Mine do go in the pool while I'm filling it, the hose doesn't bother them like that. They are okay if its coming from above--I sometimes set it on hot days so its like its raining. They are not happy if I spray them with it...LOL
Mine love strong wind! It allows them to take off easier. - And being carried over the fence where they then panic and yell for me…Mine do not like high winds either. We were in a tornado warning Friday and they were not happy with the wind. I just make sure they can get in their house if they need to and part of my run is covered so their food stays nice and dry
We don't want to encourage flying! They just figured out they could float, which was fun.Mine love strong wind! It allows them to take off easier. - And being carried over the fence where they then panic and yell for me…![]()
So far when they took flight - just 4' high - and ended up on the other side of the fence, they wanted back in asap. »Oh no everybody else is on the other side, i'm out here all alone! Help! QUACK!« - Just my three Runner Girls managed to slip under my temporary fence and went "grasing" where they shouldn't. If they discover the pond i'm screwed…We don't want to encourage flying! They just figured out they could float, which was fun.
