The general recommendation when processing ducks is to hit the 10-or-so-day window just after first full feathering and before the first moult begins (6 to 10 weeks old); otherwise, you have to wait another six to 10 weeks for full feathering before processing, unless you enjoy endless hours of pulling pinfeathers.
But, due to an unavoidable upsurge of un-postponable Work, it looks like I'm missing my first window of opportunity to process, judging by how many feathers were clouding the duck pen this morning. Do I still have a day or three of slack here, based on experience? Or is the onset of early moult an advisory to go buy another bag of Flock Raiser and put the roasting pan back on its shelf?
Thanks
