I also have ducks that seem to love winter. They seem much happier during blizzards than in the heat of the summer. I also seem to lose fewer birds in the winter than in the summer!

Mine prefer blizzards and even driving rainstorms over the heat of summer though my pond is a big relief to them. It is spring-fed and is never warmer than 50 degrees.

Yeah I notice my birds seek shade and shelter from the sun and heat but no matter what temperature it is with a blizzard they don't budge in winter.
