ducks are afraid of their pond..

I have 6 Pekin Ducks... we went away for 4 days and had someone watch our ducks/chickens. He some how forgot to feed them and now my ducks are afraid of their small pond. I don't know what it could be that scared them from it.. any thoughts?

Could you post a picture of the pond and surroundings?

With our neighbours ducks it was a big nutria that had appeared out of nowhere in his pond.

they used to LOVE it and stay in it most of the day!

Perhaps a snapping turtle has taken up residence.

Snapping turtles! Poor ducks went 4 days with out food. How is their health?

Well, seeing the tub I doubt that a nutria would want to live there. I was rather thinking of a natural pond with lots of natural vegetation to be honest.

Might just be they are feeling too weak after 4 days without food.

thats what i was thinking.. if i coax them in with meal worms they go in and have a blast! but then won't go in again..

they seem to be ok, poor things! not the greatest thing to come home to after vaca!
