Ducks are scared all of a sudden

we have 2 runner ducks, only a few months old. Up until recently they were super friendly and would follow me around the yard and seemed to enjoy human company. Now when i approach them, they act scared and run away. They were frightened by a dog recently, could this be why? How long will their shock last?

Poor little ones it sure doesn't take much to scare them and a dog would def do it. I hope they weren't where the dog could have gotten hold of them. You're just going to have to be patient, sit with them out in the yard offer some treats like mealworms but don't try and pet them just sit with them. They should get over their fear soon.

They will come up to eat, they just wont walk like they used to.

They have been traumatized it will take time for them to get over it.
