Ducks are testing my patience!!!

I got home this evening and I see one has a tiny external pip. Not one I had noticed internally pipped. Now that I can’t open the incubator any more I’m not sure what’s going on! Some egg movement, but the fan is kinda loud and I’m not hearing any peeps. 🥺
It’s 4am and I just went to check. One has an external pip. No peeps. Did you hear any before hand? From what I hear, hatching is hard work and ducks take a loooong time so I’m just hoping for the best. Fingers crossed for our Eggies. Good luck! 🐥

I only heard them after I put them to my ear this morning when candling them and noticing them in the air cell. Yes, I’m trying to relax lol but it’s hard! Good luck to you too! What day did you put them in the incubator?

Aww I’ve heard nothing. I thought I could hear chirping but it’s the other half’s nose when he’s sleeping 😒
Mine went in on the 11th may.
This is so stressful. Let me know when you get any progress. So nice to know I’m not doing this alone!

Yep I meant March.
so the pip had got a bit bigger when I got home from work. I don’t hear anything and haven’t seen any movement in either of the eggs 😩

Oh man! How long since your first external pip? I think I read 24-48 after external pip is normal. I think it’s been about 24 hours since our first here. I have 3 external eggs and I can see those move occasionally. I have 4 others I haven’t seen any movement or anything in. 🤞🏼 for both of us!

External pips that is lol

It is torture waiting for 'something' to happen.

If none have pipped externally then there's nothing stopping you opening the incubator and candling the eggs (in place if you can, or keep them in the same position they are sitting in inside the incubator) to see what's going on. Hopefully they are just being a bit slow. The air cells should have drawn down on one side and you might see them creating a bit of a shadow in the air cell before they pip internally.

I hope something starts happening for you soon - then it's the torture of waiting for them to start unzipping, which can take up to 48 hours from the external pip.

Hey. I don’t suppose you’d know if itd be a good idea to open the bator while one externally pipped?? I had to move it and one of the eggs has rolled into a cold spot. Also I’m struggling to get the humidity below 70. And lastly one of the eggs has pipped, about 18 hours now and I’ve heard no peeps, I can see the membrane over where the shell has come away. Do I need to poke a little pin hole in that so it can breathe? So stressed 😅
