This may sound dumb but does anyone else's ducks never go into the cozier box. I made mine a box with shavings in the bottom of it that is pretty similar to a nesting box just a bit bigger. I dont think I have ever seen them willingly go in. They are about 4 weeks old and have been outside for almost 2 with it recently dipping into the mid 30's at night. Every time I look outside and check on them they are outside huddled. Is that just what they like or are mine just rebels? Also while i've got you any advice on duck nesting boxes?

Sometimes ducks don't do what is good for them.

I would get them into a warm spot a.s.a.p. There is some disagreement about optimal duckling temperatures, but 30 is way below what I would want for mine.

Lure them with treats, pick them up and place them in a warm, dry, safe shelter.

My ducks don't seem to need a nesting box. With a little straw or even shavings, they will make their own nest and most eggs get deposited there.
