Mink attack. Saturday morning we went to let our ducks out & found 4 slaughtered & 5 with head wounds. I don't need to tell everyone how devastating it was. I immediately called my vet & got the needed supplies. I set up a triage in my kitchen & treated each one. They are now in ex-large dog crates. The vet said to keep them quiet for a couple weeks.
This is our first time having ducks & have had them for over 6+ years. I wondered if anyone had any advise for me. Wll my ducks ever feel safe again? They all can move their necks, but I can tell they are extremely sore. They are getting antibiotics in their water & they are all eating a little.
I just want to do everything to help them recover. We have not caught the mink, but he has returned. We are building a new coop for them, that my husband says will be like Fort Knox. Any tips on security for the new coop would be appreciated.
