Ducks Attacked By Mink

Mink attack. Saturday morning we went to let our ducks out & found 4 slaughtered & 5 with head wounds. I don't need to tell everyone how devastating it was. I immediately called my vet & got the needed supplies. I set up a triage in my kitchen & treated each one. They are now in ex-large dog crates. The vet said to keep them quiet for a couple weeks.

This is our first time having ducks & have had them for over 6+ years. I wondered if anyone had any advise for me. Wll my ducks ever feel safe again? They all can move their necks, but I can tell they are extremely sore. They are getting antibiotics in their water & they are all eating a little.

I just want to do everything to help them recover. We have not caught the mink, but he has returned. We are building a new coop for them, that my husband says will be like Fort Knox. Any tips on security for the new coop would be appreciated.

Absolutely, feel free to reach out if you ever need to talk! I just recently had to put my year old rooster down after someone poisoned him . Raising livestock is hard, especially dealing with losses. You're doing great though and it sounds like your new coop will be even better.
