Hello again guys . 4 weeks ago I put 18 duck eggs in the incubator . After a week I added two bantam eggs .so in theory everyone e should have been hatching g at the same time . I'm glad to say that with a little help I hatched all 18 eggs .one pipped the wrong end and although I got it out still alive it died soon after as it had been struggling for air . So 17 r all good and well and fostered by my broody hen. Here the confusing bit . The two bantam eggs after 21 days hadn't even pipped and as bantams usually pip earlier I though they wer dead as the ducks have all hatched . I had a look inside to check if they were definatly dead and they were both still alive . They had not even internal pipped . I pipped them as I thought they were in trouble and they r breathing but barely any movement . I dont think they will survive and they look like they r still days away from being ready to hatch. I cant figure out how they got so far behind or if they would have ever hatched by themselves and today is day 21 and 18 ducks have hatched in this time . Not sure if bantams incubate badly as it's the first time I tried any .they honestly look like they would have needed at least another couple of days to even internal pip. Would love some feed back

Congrats on the ducks! What kind of incubator, and did you check the inside temp with a calibrated thermometer? They were probably in cold spots in the bator. How did you pip them? That sounds like a bad idea. You can't assist them until they internally pip. They need to internally pip on their own. You can't do it for them. I would have just left them in and hoped for the best.

Not sure what happened with the ducks doing so well. I was ready to turn off the bator as I thought they were dead as they hadn't pipped nor could I c them I the air cell so I though they were definitely dead .incubator has ran really well on multiple batches with a good hatch rate . Will learn from this but cant imagine how they got so far behind everything else. There was duck eggs on the same side of abator and they pipped day two days before hatch
