I recently adopted some ducks and at first they didnt get along to well the others until the new hierarchy was established! they still occasionally tend to pull others feathers and run them around squabbling. There has also been a lot of breeding going on! But my question is do ducks breed more in water then on land? I have seen them do it on land but here lately its been more in the water. Im uncertain if they are mating or trying to being mean. Some times two ducks will hold one under water and other times just one will! I'm afraid that one may drowned if this is not addressed if it needs to be! Please some one enlighten me!

Not sure about all breeds of ducks but my Muscovy ducks breed in the water and on land. In the kiddie pool you would swear he's trying to drown her holding her back neck feathers and pushing her underwater but once the mating is over they both act all excited, But given choice the muscovies seem to breed more on land than water. maybe others with different breeds can chime in but I thought most other ducks prefer breeding in the water.
