I'm reading mixed info. on housing ducks and chickens together.
I'm not sure now what I can or cannot do. Does it depend on on how they interact with each other? I know ducks need a lot more water than chickens(swimming). Do they need a pool inside the run or something just big enough for them to get in? My chickens are free run during the day but go back to their house when it starts getting dark, so the ducks will be too. They will have a pool in the yard so not sure if it's necessary for one inside.
I'm a little confused on the housing thing, so some kind of assistance would be awesome.
Thanks bunches!!!

Whether or not they get along is an unknown. Any drakes would likely need to be keep away from chickens during breeding season.

In terms of your water question, I would have the pool outside of the coop/run in their free range area. This will minimize the mess in the confined space. Ducks do need to be able to dunk their heads in their drinking water (but not their whole bodies), so a bucket or deep bowl will work for that. They can all eat the same food, so that's easy. I'm not sure what your house/barn/coop is like so I'm not sure how well it would work for both.

This is my first year having backyard birds. I started with chickens and then got a little bird crazy. Now I have 13 chickens, 10 ducks, 3 geese, and four turkeys. They free roam my backyard all together but at night I separate them by what birds they are. Only because I was worried about fighting at night. Not sure where everyone is going to lay eggs though. Right now my chickens are the only ones laying eggs and they have the insulated doghouse where they lay.

I have chickens geese and ducks and during breeding season my geese have their own house my Runners and Buffs have their own house and my Muscovies and chickens sleep in their house. Geese once breeding age are pretty ornery during breeding season so they can't sleep with anyone but each other. The Runners and Buffs only sleep in the big coop with the Muscovies and Chickens in really cold weather they all like to sleep together. Even the geese are welcomed then. My ducks lay in the shaving in their houses my chickens lay in their nest boxes and sometimes in the same nest as the ducks. The goose likes to lay in a nest that has already had an egg in it too.

I wouldn’t put water in their house over night, they’ll make it terribly messy and smelly! As long as they have access to water from when they are let out in the morning, to when they go to ‘bed’ at night, they’ll be fine. As PirateGirl said, they do need their water bowl to be big enough, and deep enough, for them to put their heads in though. I love keeping ducks and waste hours upon hours watching them and chatting to them!!! My friend has chickens and ducks which free roam together during the day, but have separate houses at night. They all take themselves off to bed when it starts getting dark and they take themselves off to their own houses too! No need for us to step in and sort them out! Good luck with your ducks!

This is our chicken coop/run, it is an old dog house and very large, chickens are in there. If I have some kind of inclosure in the run for the ducks and add a door to coop would that be acceptable? That way no one is bumping heads, I'm still not sure what gender my ducks are yet.
Thanks so much for the input, it has been very helpful.

I am new to this also, however I have had my duck with my chickens since I brought them all home. They seem to be getting along very well. We converted an old large wood shed into a coop and provided a large area surrounded by chicken wire for them to play in during the day until I feel they are big enough to free range. I filled one of my sons sleds up with water and stuck it in the corner of the fenced in area, duck seems happy and so are the chickens :) lets hope it stays that way haha
