Ducks coughing

Hello my Muscovy Drake's refused to clean their faces most of the winter even though they had plenty of clean water deep enough to clean them. A few ended up with foamy eye so I added the apple cider vinegar to the water and it worked for some but a couple started to cough this week any suggestions on what to do. My ducks have over a acre fenced in and the boys do not like to be handled as they are rescued so easiest treatment would be amazing if at all possible.

I have a duck with a nasty eye infection, started as foamy eye and progressed. She is on antibiotics now.

I know you are looking for hands free options, but if you do notice it getting worse, I bought some sterilized saline that I flush her eye out with every four hours. The others who got foamy eye, that seemed to nip it in the bud promptly.

Anywho, as you know, replenishing their water frequently. If they are refusing to wash their heads, sometimes I just stand with the shower nozzle on my hose and gently spray them down. The one with the eye infection takes full advantage of getting sprayed down and tilts her head towards the running water. Im not sure why your ducks won’t wash their heads and do not have experience with Muscovy ducks myself. Maybe it’s a temperature thing if their faces are more sensitive?

When my ducks cough, i usually make time to deep clean their sleeping quarters and their run to remove dust, droppings, and bacteria. I would suggest adding some Rooster Booster Poultry Cell to their drinkers and have one drinker with just plain water. That has helped my birds get through seasonal changes and small colds or congestion.

I know VetRX is great for this but also involves handling.

I am sorry I don’t have exact knowledge but these things have helped me get through the tough times with my flock! I hope everyone feels better soon

Thanks so much for answering. I have been trying to vet rx I look like I went through rise bushes lol. They tore me up with their nails. I love alone so no help to hold them down. I'll order some of the booster.
I have 2 kidy pools and a 8 x 10 pond to. I empty the kiddy pools every morning and the big one is every other day along with 1 gallon buckets all over that get fresh daily. My run for them is over a acre and mostly dirt so they make a ton of mud I'm wonder if that has anything to do with it.

My muscovy drake always has foamy eye - he's 5. It's not an infection, he just doesn't rinse his head as much especially in the winter. Now that it is spring, he will take a nice bath at least once a week when I refresh their swim water. I've had other muscovy drakes and they aren't as clean as the girls are.
I didn't see any mention of the coughing in your post though. If using the vet rx, add a drop or 2 to their drinking water or add a drop or two of oregano oil to their water.
My drake chokes on his food sometimes (which can look like coughing), but it happens because he's a pig - he's always got plenty of fresh water.
