Ducks deliberately breaking and eating eggs

If you can get some mealworms you might try them for added protein. That way your able to scratch protein def if the egg eating continues.
Some good quality dog food(dry) can add extra protein too I give both to my
Flock.

1 out of 4 eggs? Sounds like a duck is laying thin or soft shell eggs and when they break the duck is cleaning up the mess. I have seen my ducks doing this. If this is what your ducks are doing they are not true egg eaters. Collect eggs more often and watch to see if one is laying imperfect eggs. This can turn into birds breaking normal eggs and becoming true egg eaters; something very hard to stop. Possibly try putting unbreakable dummy eggs in the nests when you collect the fresh eggs.

Is there any other reason a sitting mother duck would eat her & her girlfriend's eggs, 'Maisy" has been doing this for almost a week. There's no consistency to it. One day 2-3 eggs, one day just one. I give her fresh water 2-3 times a day.(We're in the triple degits here). Fresh food twice a day. She's not a domestic duck. Maisy, her friend & the male drake came over 2 years ago & never left. The Mallard female was taken by a predator a few months ago. They all live by the back of the house where the other younger ducklings are now. (The drake Mallard tries to jump on the young females thru the fence & that upsets the younger males-Pekin & Mallard cross) I will check on oyster shell & see what happens. None of the eggs are misshappen or soft. That does'nt seem to be the reason here. Any other suggestions?

I’ve noticed females will attack eggs if they got attacked while sitting or something. I had one female cayuga that got attacked by a raven when she was sitting on the eggs and then after that she started breaking them, almost as if she blamed the eggs for her trauma
