I have two black Swedish ducks laying, one started earlier this month and one started today. These are my first black Swedish ducks. Their first egg was black but as my other one started laying more, her eggs started loosing their color, to the point where the eggs look white. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong or if there is anything wrong at all. Has this happened to anyone else? What's happening?

You mention the color changed when the second bird began to lay -- are you certain that they both produced dark eggs at one point? Are you now getting two light colored eggs daily?

One duck started laying about a month ago, her first egg was black. As she kept laying, her eggs kept getting lighter and lighter. Now they are white. My second duck just started to lay today. Her egg is black. I'm trying to see if I can prevent hers from turning white, or if there is anything I can do. I read that the black Swedish breed is supposed to lay black eggs....

We bought the ducks from Metzer farms, I didn't see anything about them loosing the egg color on their website. I think I'm going to ask on the duck forum.
