Hi! I have a some ducks, and 2 of them have been fighting all day. It is a male mallard and his son. His son keeps attacking him, when the dad retreats, the son grabs him again. He does this all day. The father now is limping and his feathers are torn. How do I stop this? The first pic is the dad. The second is them fighting, and the father giving up.

Can I have better pics of the dad? The dad sort of looks like a female and it's hard to tell

Yes, he still has his not colorful plumage. I will post tomorrow it is dark where we live.
How old is the dad? Did he just start molting or he's been like this for more than 4 months?

We don't know how old the dad is. He just flew in one day and started living here. He had 2 ducklings, 1 boy and one girl. I think he's been like that for like 4 - 3 months.

That's a girl most likely the drake is most likely trying to make babies with her.

How can the father be a girl?? He sounds like a drake, and mates the female ducks! 🤨😕
Hmm...but what takes a drake so long to molt? That's what's getting me confused. Most likely then it's the drake trying to show the dad he's more powerful than the dad. Otherwise @Miss Lydia will hopefully know

Maybe the father is just old and it's taking him longer to molt?
