I had Khaki campbell ducks before, and I kept them in the pasture with the geese and other livestock (about 7 acres) I never had any problems with them getting out of the fence. I didn't have a pond back then, but now I do. Do you think Muscovies would stay in a fence in that situation?
Mine can climb over my 4ft chain link fence (they have claws) but they usually don't. I think in the 3 years I had them before, and the one year this year after a hiatus, that's only happened maybe twice because they got spooked by something really bad and happened to be against the fence. It's pretty hilarious to watch a duck scale a fence perpendicularly. The only other time they do is when they climb their run, and only if they know I have food when I come to feed them or I'm letting them out in the morning. It's basically a wall of duck.
Edited to add: Just to let you know it's HIGHLY unlikely they will jump the fence (with their clipped wings) but that there is a small possibility.
