Does it ever end with these birds? Can I have atleast one peaceful, calm, worryfree day with my birds? Apparently not! You would think they were children!!!!:D Now my girl has gone and ripped a whole in her foot. I tried to get some close pics but of course she wasn't having that. Is there anyway I can fix her webbing? She appears to not have a problem with it but I'm concerned she'll get something caught in it and make it much worse. Any suggestions?

I don't have any experience with torn webs, but I'm gomm guess that unless you catch her, train the edges of the wound, then sew it back that it will heal with a hole. Can you take your duck to a vet?

If it were my duck I would catch it and inspect the wound, treat accordingly, but I doubt I would try sewing it.

Do you know how she got it? I wonder if it was from a snapping turtle

That's the first thing I thought but the hole looks like it was made from her snagging her foot on something. How about uplifted nails from our dock that became uplifted during Hurricane Irma. That's what my husband thinks...so guess how he's spending his weekend? :barnie We feel so bad for not thinking that would be a problem beforehand concerning our ducks.:hit I just look at the poor girl and want to do something but don't know what.

Catch, clean and apply clear iodine... bandage *maybe* until it heals...

Mine dearly love to traipse through blackberry brambles and some have gotten holes torn in their webs... as long as the tears don't get infected, it will be fine.... but hole will stay...

I suppose you can numb it with a bit of lidocaine before sewing but I'm not sure how much for a duck

If it were a tiny hole I wouldn't be too concerned but it's a little too big for something else not to get caught in it. I thought I remembered someone mentioning something about medical glue or some type of liquid medical sewture??? If I try and sew it, melody would never forgive me, I'm an awful seamstress! Each day she'll look down at that foot and think to herself, "I wish this lady would have taken a sewing class before she stitched me up like a zig zag puzzle!!!" :hmm

Ok, here we go. Melody is very scary, we probably will be chasing her until the sun goes down, but I want to take a good look at it to make sure everything is well. What if I only have the brown colored iodine? Can I use it or would any pharmacy carry the clear?

Any pharmacy should carry the clear iodine... very small bottles and sometimes they are called colorless iodine or iodine tincture... I know Walmart, Walgreens, CVS all carry it...
