What do I need to know about keeping ducks for eggs? Really, I know nothing.

We were so excited when our Muscovy started laying! She gave us 9 eggs, and now that appears to be all. I kind of thought that once she started, we'd be getting eggs for a while. No?

Is she broody? kinda fluffed up, chirpy? standoffish? Muscovy are broody monsters... that could play a role in their laying, do you have drakes?

Otherwise, good food, water etc.. and free choice oyster shell is what i do for mine, they lay like crazy that is when not trying to sneak nests in all over the place.

She was very fluffy and chirpy, but never standoffish. We went away for a week, and the neighbors who took care of her rearranged her nest, which is what I think probably upset her. Or it was just that we were gone. Also, they didn't let her out to roam. But we've been back for a week now. She's back in the yard daily, and I put her nest back how it was, but she wants nothing to do with it.

Drakes... we have two, but they're still young, and they're another breed.

Oyster shell? I wonder what I can find like that here. (Random: I was amazed by how thick the shells of her eggs were!)

Almost sounds like she was broody. If she has no drake though, probably best she has been discouraged as the eggs wouldn't be fertile.

Muscovy females are like the rabbits of the duck world, they are massively determined to brood. She will likely resume laying again but may take a bit, nest moving is tricky and usually results in abandonment in my experience.

As for oyster shell, possibly where you purchase your feeds from.
