Ducks living with a bantam?! Help please!

drakes have a tendency to calm ducks in the long run. against a female bird the duck will probably be the aggressor
Ok thanks! I guess that concludes it. I have started other threads about should I get a drake for mating but now I know it will help keep peace... THANKS!!!!!!!

Any time hope it all works out

Thanks... I don't think I have anymore questions....

Maybe just more people agreeing with you would make me more confident... Don't get me wrong you have helped me before but I have asked this same question on one of the chicken forums and they said I shouldn't get the ducks or get rid of the bantam and said that males are more aggressive and will try to mate with the bantam and kill it... Do u know about that?

Drakes if kept alone with no ducks, will try to mate with chickens, but if your bantam can fly at all, like i know some bantams can ,it shouldnt be a problems.

if you keep 2 to 3 ducks for the one drake hell have no time for the bantam

in my 12 years of raising ducks, which isnt considered a long amount of time, the only time ive seen males be agressive is when they do not have a heram, which is a group of one or two drakes with 3 to 6 ducks in a group , those males with out this did have to chase and ultimatly rape the females belonging to a heram. But if you keep the right number of male to female ratio. you should be fine.

Ok thanks... I have that right ratio... Someone talked about this to me the other day. Usually 2-5 to 1 drake. if he is busy mating with the other ducks why would he mate with the chicken? Thats what I asked but the person didn't answer jet said don't get ducks if u want ur bantam. Thanks again

no it woul most likely be a duck, but drakes do calm ducks overall so its always a good idea to have a drake handy
A drake trying to mate a bantam hen will kill said hen. Drakes have penises, roosters do not. Chicken hens aren't equipped to handle that.
