Our two pekin-ayelsbury drakes have a particular behavior while swimming where they sometimes lunge their neck backwards and quack once loudly while looking at the other duck. Then, they immediately follow it up by putting their neck straight out parallel with the water and swimming in a circle or two around the other duck. They are 8 months old and have both done this in the water since they became feathered. It’s almost as if they are excitedly saying “hi!” at the other duck, and it is especially funny to watch when they both happen to do these same actions simultaneously at each other. Sometimes when I walk near them while they’re swimming, one of them will even do the same thing at me! I think it’s so interesting to interpret my ducks’ behavior and was just wondering if anyone else has observed this in their ducks / what it might mean? Thanks!
