i went to walmart yesterday and bought a plastic pool for my ducklings(nonsense & giggles) to swim in and have a little fun....i filled up the pool went into the house and carried out two 5 gallon buckets of hot water to warm it up...got my ducks from there pen and tried to put them in the water and they threw a fit...lol....it wasnt because of the water..they were just scared...so i had to put them back in there pens while i used the netting we bought to make a enclosure so they wouldnt escape...so that all done i took them outta there pen again and just stuck them in the water..took them a few minutes but then they enjoyed it!!! yippee....
so then i cleaned out there pen while they played awhile...after a couple minutes i let them out of the pool and just let them roam around the enclosure....after i was done i took a blanket and went in and picked them both up and snuggled them in the blanket to dry off....and my dog...i have a yellow lab was literally licking his lips because he wanted them....he didnt try and jump up or anything just sat there whining and licking his lips...told him to be nice to the babies...lol....i just hope when they get bigger and r able to go into our pond that they all get along...the dog loves his pond...hope he is willing to be nice and share...my boyfriend said that is how ducks get rid of preditors they will go into water and swim around until the preditor wears itself out and drowns....omg..i hope buddy is smarter then that...all we can do is hope for the best..that they alllll get along and live prosperous lives!!!!! wow...guess im done...lol..thanks for listening!!!!! :-)

cant wait to be able to post pics!!!

Totes awesome! I have a duck and 2 dogs, my duck is 9 weeks old and I am convinced she thinks she is a dog. I totally love your ducklings names..! My baby is called Hendrix. Hendrix curls up with my dogs at the back door to sleep and she climbs into their water bowls.. they look at her like OMG what are you doing! I have to drink that!
I also have 6 chooks, they all co-habitate really well. I don't leave the duck out with the dogs if i am going out.. you just never know! But when they are together it is really cute!
Good Luck with everything

You can put a muzzle on your dog while he's outside with the ducks at least for a few weeks to make sure he doesn't take to kill them.

that is a great idea durhamduck...thanks...ill probably do that....i dont think he would purposly bite them but he thinks everything is his babies...he drags his stuffed animals around and nibbles on them...lol...but he doesnt know when to stop....and with a squacking duck...makes it more inquisitive...lol...

so i finally left my dog(buddy) around the ducks...he does very well!!! he kinda whines like he wants to play...lol...but i tell him that they r babies and he has to be good...the one duck charges at him like "back off buddy"....he does....my boyfriend said that when he let him in to see them the one charged at him and buddy licked its beak...lol...that would of been a cute pic!!!

now the test is the ducks being released and we'll see how buddy does....we've already decided that we r gonna purchase buddy a life jacket for dogs because that way he can swim in the pond with his pals!!! ill be worried sick that he will drown...

But remember, labs are bred to have ducks in their mouths! They are supposed to be gentle, but still, those are big jaws and ducks are not always so big. I would be really really careful if I were you. I am sure your dog is a total sweetie, but he is, after all, a dog. I would really hate for him to hurt one of your ducks by accident. Especially, if he is like my greyhound and likes to shake his squeaky toys.

ohhh dont worry...im very careful with him in the greenhouse with me...as soon he goes anywhere near them i scream... "buddy no"...im soo nervous that he is gonna just accidently grab one...so far he sniffs there bedding and backs off...he is a good dog but like u said..he is a dog who loves to shake his toys around!!! lol....im hoping the longer he is around them the better he will be....only time will tell...

Ohh can't wait to see pics

I have a golden lab and when the duckling were babies they all cuddled up to her, it was adorable, but now they dicipline her if she gets to close to their food scraps haha - they all get along perfectly so I'm sure yours will too

My male great pyrenees sleeps in the duck yard under the oak tree. Saw one duckling sleeping on his back and other playing tug with his tail. Our female GP cant be near them she is too puppy still and we never know what the puppy play drive will do.
