Oddly, my ducks haven’t been eating really anything…last few days. Nor are they really drinking much. It’s cold and snowy here but they usually chow down, swim in the lukewarm water I give them. Their barn is always clean, well ventilated, they’ve being doing well all winter, and they all look good.

has anyone experienced this?

hello. have u noticed any worms in their excrement or changes in the excrement. Maybe it is because of worms. Also do u offer treats in excess amount perhaps

Thanks for responding. They have been in their barn since late December. They really don’t want to go out at all. Would they get worms inside the Barn? The flooring is wood painted with resin, and clean, dry straw. The barn is slightly elevated, so I can’t imagine anything getting in. I haven’t seen any unusual feces, often greenish from peas and kale.

I think maybe they are having too many treats such as peas and kale as u stated. Try to cut down on them and no matter how much they fuss, let them have their feed first. Maybe give it a few days and see how it goes. Or maybe they could have contacted some infection. I hope the other members here give u some guidance.

My ducks are eating but not near as much as before the really frigid temps with ice and snow set in. They mostly just lay around. As long as you don't notice anything out of norm besides not eating and drinking much they will probably pick back up once the weather gets better.
Will they eat their peas and kale? I brought out romaine yesterday and they scarfed it all up Just don't seem their usual piggy selves.

My ducks have periods where they don't eat as much as others, especially when they aren't producing eggs. But they'll always gobble down favorites - like mealworms, tomatoes, and lettuce.

Could your feed have been exposed to moisture and become slightly moldy? Or perhaps it has gone stale/expired if you buy it in large bags?

They’ll eat some kale, and some peas. When that freezes, they’ll eat Mazuri, but not that much. Perhaps this is a winter phenomenon. They usually eat like truckers, but they are also not outside very much due to 4 ft of sn on the ground.
Thanks Miss Lydia!

I keep all the feed ins my house, in plastic bins with lids. But it’s possible that it’s stale. Maybe I’ll buy the smaller bags of Mazuri.
