This is the 1st time this has happened (other than the eggs snatched by my dog) but I found an egg shell under my deck in which something had opened it and lapped up the insides.

The last couple days I only got 4 eggs which 1 day a week I usually expect but it seems someone just laid later through the day.

Anyways what do you think? Duck or other? I’m located in Alberta Canada.

Since it was under the deck I assume it's from some other animal that hid to eat it. Are your ducks free range or do they only lay in a coop?? If they egg was in the coop then I would look for any way something could have gotten in. If there is a hole or something it's probably some other animal.

My ducks free range my yard (they are backyard ducks) but are locked up in their coop & run at night. I have a few hens that I’m pretty sure are holding their eggs until they are released once in a while. My dog is in the backyard 24/7 other than when we are walking him or he comes in he house for some cuddles.

This egg was found under the deck. So unless something climbed over the run grabbed an egg in its mouth and scaled the fence again without my dog noticing then it deserves the snack haha. I’ve checked the run & coop all the hardware wire is intact & there are no holes under the pallet fencing & rail road ties.
