Ducks sharing nest

Two of my ducks have begun sharing a nest and lay together but they are only laying for a few hours a day then one gets up. The other continues to lay for another hour or so then she leaves. Any ideas why they are not staying on longer? I’m very new to this. Lol so any help would be appreciated!!

Sounds like they are just laying eggs and aren't broody currently.

But do you want to chance them being eaten? they have chosen a place that isn't safe. If mine I'd take the eggs and put them in a secure building [coop] then destroy where they have chosen to sit. They may not go back to sitting where you put the eggs but at least they will be safe from predators. And just maybe the eggs inside will tell them this is where to lay an sit.

No of course we never would take a chance of anything happening to them!! I have already moved some of the eggs inside the barn and put the rest into our incubator.
