I was going to post an update on my duck that I adopted, but they got into motor oil so I was so worried that they would get sick from it. They seem fine, but now their feathers aren’t waterproof anymore!

They just dunked their heads in and I had to clean them off with soap. I dried them off, and the next day I saw that their head and wing feathers were no longer waterproof. I rinsed them off and dried them and made sure they stayed clean so they could preen oil back into their feathers. Today I let them out and their heads are fine but their feathers are a disaster! They are not waterproof and now look stringy. I really don’t know what to do now. I thought maybe I just got soap on their wings but now I’m not so sure that’s what it is. Please do any of y’all know what I should do to fix this?
