I reluctantly got involved in poultry when my husband kept suggesting that we get baby ducks because they 'make me happy.' So after much deliberation (do I really want more animals? It will just be more work...) we decided to go for it and have had two Peking ducklings living in my beach apartment for about a month. I know this website OS called backyardchickens, but I've found it to be one of the better resources for ducks too. The internet is a great thing to have when one is just starting to care for an animal they have no experience in!

WELCOME!!!-I was so glad to find this forum too its been so much help!!! Good Luck with your ducks!!!!!

Hi, welcome to BYC. I'm new here, too. I also live in an apartment and would love to have a duck, but I'm not allowed (and it's against city ordinances, anyway).

My first post, and my duck story in a hundred words or less!

Well, I thought "Gee, wouldn't it be great if I became more self-sufficient with my food? Home-raised eggs would be awesome." Then I thought "Ducks . . . I hear ducks are easier to raise than chickens." Fast-forward eight months. I now have six very, very lively Golden 300 hybrids (all girls,) three books, a pond, and I've spent enough at Home Depot to put the children of their employees through college. I've been lurking here at least two months now, and finally decided to join.

Whee!
