Reflections photoshoot:

I had been thinking of doing this photoshoot for weeks now, though more of months ever since I got a couple of free mirrors. My idea was, take my EE hen, Winter, put her on one of the mirrors with a black backdrop, and get a picture of her pecking/looking down at the mirror. (I did have a few other thoughts to go along with it, but those were more of impossible ideas, or for at least this time.)
In the past, I have tried mirror photography with previous hens, but they always ended up as fails. Chickens often don't like mirrors, and they especially don't like standing on them. That in mind, I was worried this photoshoot was going to be a complete fail, but to my surprise, Winter was as calm as could be, and didn't seem bothered at all besides a few complaints of disturbing her bedtime. I'm really happy with this photoshoot, and am glad I decided to risk it, even if it meant failure.

These are so beautiful and she looks so cute! You must have worked hard to get those feets clean, there's not a speck on them.
Now I wish that you could photograph my birds. You'd really do them justice.

And now we know the rest of the mirror story. :)

Thanks!
I actually didn't have to wash them. The most I did was put fresh shavings in the coop that morning. She still had access to the run that day, but somehow she managed to keep them clean.
I would absolutely love to, if I could. There's so many people's chickens that I see that I just drool over, wishing I could do a photoshoot with them. Then, I haven't had any indoor photoshoots with bantams yet because I didn't start doing those until a few years after I had sold the last of mine. Your bantams would be so cute!

Yep 🤣

My first ever book photography photoshoot. This was inspired by the BYC's 52-week Photography Challenge. Week 4: (Jan 26 - Feb 1, 2026). Theme: Books! thread. I had never done book photography before, and it really never crossed my mind before, so I never realized how much fun it was! There are so many details to focus on! I absolutely loved doing this photoshoot!

This post will likely be a bit picture heavy just because there were so many I liked, and so many good ones that I was able to capture in such a short amount of time. Anyway, here they are:

Your lighting and soft box setup works great here!
Thanks! I actually didn't use my soft boxes on this one. They're too big, so they would have ruined it. I used my artificial lights that I use on my car photography, which are much smaller and easier to work with. They also have filters, so I was able to get the colors I wanted as well.
