Your brave for hatching too many heartaches for me. But at the fair I was able to watch some chicks hatch. It was really something.

It just breaks my heart to see that I barely got any and then one dies

What did the gut you bought them from say? I think he owes you at least three, right? Because they weren't fertilized.

Oh, yeah he offered me another dozen free, but we pay for shipping, which I could live with. But I'm not sure if I should ho for the offer or just get adult quail

Are you getting them as pets, to breed or to....(Sorry) eat? I would go with day old. That way you see the quality. As well as the weak are weeded out.

I wouldn't eat them, but I would probably keep them as pets and breed them every once in a while

I'm like that. I have 5 chickens for eggs and 4 silkie roosters that live in-house because they crow all the time. I love them all, I couldn't eat them. The are my pets.
