I was candling an egg when it slipped down the tube and hit the flashlight. It cracked on the end and I saw a tiny spot of blood. I panicked and grabbed some duct tape and placed it over the crack. It seems to have sealed but now I'm reading wax is the best solution. I can't pull the duct tape off now and do wax because I'm certain it would pull the egg apart if I tried. They are due to hatch in 11 days? Do you think we have a chance at hatching? Anything I can do to improve the odds??

I've always used candle wax, but guess that duct tape would work as long as not too much of the egg was covered.

It was a small crack on the pointier side of the egg. I put about half inch of duct tape over it. It seems to be holding tightly as there is no fluids leaking out. I'm going to check tonight and see if there is any movement while candling again. Thanks

I've used duct tape, candle wax, nail polish, you name it.

They usually hatch without issue as long as I haven't scrambled them too much by dropping them. Good luck, happy hatching!

Well sad to say...I opened the bator yesterday to rotate the eggs and there was an odd odor. It was coming from the egg with the duct tape. I'm not sure if it was the tape warming up or the egg breaking down. I sadly had to discard it as to not contaminate the others. Sad but a valuable lesson learned:(
