Hi. Our peahen, Priscilla, laid 2 eggs and sat on them for over 35 days. We decided to take them away before they broke in the henhouse. They were duds—just runny yuck inside.

However, now Priscilla is pacing around, trying to get into the other coop where we have young chickens, going in to nest, laying on chicken eggs, etc. We took the eggs away yesterday (7/6).

How long will she act like this? Thanks.

It varies from bird to bird. Does she have a cock available? She might start laying again, there is still time in the season, maybe she will get fertile eggs next time.

I had the same problem my duck laid eggs and they were all duds. Very disappointing. I was going to wait until I make an incubator but my son begged me to try again. I have 8 eggs. Keeping my fingers crossed that some of these are fertile. Still to soon to candle.
