Dude, Am I the ONLY one who thinks this is just plain WRONG!?!?

I thought the same thing!

Chicken foot key chains would sell like mad here at the local flea market.

Chicken feet scare me! LOL! Makes me think of bad scary Voodoo! Like what you see in the Movies! No Not for me!

The chicken foot bracelet fascinates me. I coldn't wear it, but I could stare at it for ages!

The goose-foot key chain is kinda cool-looking, too. It would totally creep out my family

And then the cat would prbably steal it (she steals my rabbits foot, too).

Yuck. Not because it's a chicken foot, well, maybe but it looks like an old creepy hand!

Quite possibly.....he is a very bright child. However, I am still recovering from the skull he drug in screaming "OH MOM.......check it out....this one still has BRAIN!!!!!!" Not much freaks me out but all I could think of was DISEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for the source of the feet.....I think it is a pretty cool idea if they can find someone to like them....just think of all the wasted parts every time an animal is processed.

Good point- as they say about pigs- using everything but the squeal- during the Not-So-Great Depression, that was the way it had to be done. Definately not to my taste- but?

Edited spelling.

Ok, I'm going to let the "convos", as they are called on etsy.com, speak for themselves.

From me, auntsallysattic, to seller of bracelet:

Hello,
I am an Esty seller also- and a member of the www.backyardchickens.com forum. I raise chickens as a hobby and as a source of income from egg sales. I am uncomfortable with this art piece- can you at least tell me where the chicken foot came from? No offense intended, just curious about it!
Thanks,
Sally

This is what I got back from the seller this morning:

Your too funny Auntsally,

I see a hen in an apron on your website. I guess she is about to cook something. Maybe a human or a chicken? I bought this foot and several others at a store called "FOOD CITY" here in Phoenix, Az. We have a large population of Hispanics (50). Many are poor. They use chicken feet in a soup, sounds delicious doesn't it?
Grow up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And my reply this morning:

Whoa, hold up here- you have confused me with someone else. Probably another backyard chickens.com member- obviously someone with a different attitude from me! I actually posted in your defense, on www.backyardchickens.com, as user "ranchhand".
Sorry someone was rude to you- in my convo I sepcifically said "not trying to be offensive". I was simply curious- the piece is not to my personal taste, but I see nothing wrong with it- like with a pig, you use "everything but the squeal". When I was in college biology, we had to dissect baby pigs- I made earrings from the dried ears!
And I don't sell aprons- I am "auntsallysattic" and I sell vintage items. I also lived most of my life in Texas, after 2 years in Ecuador- I am fluent in the Spanish language as well as the cooking! We used the heads as well as the feet in soup. So, I don't have a problem, I was just interested. And the fact the someone was rude to you is regrettable, but I feel maybe you owe me an apology?
Yours in friendship and natural curiousity,
Sally

So, whoever sent a rude message, thanks for getting me in hot water. Hopefully the seller will get her duck feet in a row and realize she made a mistake in messages.

The point I'm trying to make is about "disagreeing, without being disagreeable".

Well I don't think it is gross (but I'm odd anyway) but I do think it would be uncomfortable to wear- probably scratchy and would irritate your wrist. Overpriced, too.

I've had chicken feet hung from my rear view mirror before (decorated, of course

) I also have a chicken foot pipe - Haven't smoked it, but it makes a great conversation piece

btw - you can get smaller quantities of chicken feet at any Asian Market - they use them in Chinese cooking. They are pretty cheap - like $1.20 a pound, last time I checked.

I sold a lot of chicken feet on ebay after that Pirates of the Carribean movie (the second one) came out.

people will buy most anything if it has a movie connection/reference.

I also have various skulls and bones laying around (some of which I processed myself

) I made a snake vertebra choker once, out of a blue racer my BIL found on the side of the road. It was a fresh kill, so I managed to tan the skin, too - it was beautiful.

I realize I'm probably in the minority here, but I don't see a problem at all with recycling such things

Although, I doubt I'd find a good place to wear that bracelet and would never pay that much for one.
But, like the chicken foot pipe - it would make a fantastic conversation starter
