I ordered some Blue Slate eggs from jmhappycowboy. Out of 8 eggs, 5 developed. Lockdown is tonight, but when I candled this morning, there was movement in all 5 eggs!!!!! WOOHOOO!!!!!

Come on babies!

My hatch turned disasterous!

I had movement in all 5 eggs when I put them in the hatcher. A couple of the eggs were even peeping. I could tell the air sacs were HUGE and that bothered me, but I ignored it. When there were no pips the next night, I really got worried.

I cracked the eggs and my worst fear was confirmed. The babies were shrink wrapped.

3 of the babies were already dead. 2 were still breathing. I moistened the membrane and gave the eggs their own little saran wrap sleeping bag. They made it out of the shells yesterday.

This morning when I checked on them, 1 is now standing on its own and hopping around, the other is still laying down but doing the scooting thing. He/She should be up and around by the time I get home tonight.

So, even though I didn't do as well as I had hoped, at least I have 2 babies.

Good luck with your babies lesliet!!!!!

that is where I have the most problems with my hatches also. they are doing great and they pip and that is the end of it. And I have my humidity set at 70%. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. but the next few hatches will just be my mutts until I can figure the last part out...

this is interesting! I have Narragansett eggs in the bator now, lock down begins on Saturday, my first batch of turkeys ever. Only 4 of the dozen developed. My humidity has run low for nearly all of the time they've been in there (in the 30s). Should I start upping the humidity today? I am a nervous wreck...
