Duel Roos

Quote:
I would say in the next couple weeks. I had one roo that was horrible! He picked fights with the the other bird and ended up killing one of my smaller chicks and would attack me. I knew at about 8 weeks I think that he was going in the soup pot ahead of schedule, but he showed signs of being a brat at around 6 wks.

It can strike anywhere between 12- 16 weeks old.
You want the one that is people friendly, good with the girls, keeps watch for predators, not rough during whoopie, escorts the girls to the best hangout spots, and so on.

Aggressive can = people aggressive which is not good.

Mine started crowing and breeding at 15 weeks...not sure what the earliest/latest it can happen is though.

I have 3, mistakenly....I am having "tryouts" now, but they don't seem to realize it yet! They are 9-10 wks old...so I will give them all a bit longer...I am favoring this one:

He seems to care the most....the next few weeks will tell.
BTW I have 13 pullets, so I may actually keep 2, not sure yet...

Mine started crowing a couple weeks ago, they area ll 9 weeks or so old, not the best sounding crow, but I know what they mean!

They should be fine. I have several roosters and they get along, as long as they have space to retreat to. As long as neither roo starts to attack you or constantly pick on a chicken/other roo, I wouldn't worry about it.
