(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I started with 5 Golden commets in September. They started laying about a month later. One of my cats got my rooster the first week, but showed us where our run was weak. Then around January I lost a hen unexpectedly.
Now I'm raising 16 chicks. Four Lavender Orpingtons, 4 Black Minorca's, 4 Easter eggers, and 4 olive eggers. I've never raised chicks. I'm scared, but so far they seem ok.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Eggs, cuddles, morning song.

Farm wise, I also have goats.

I'm a homeschool momma of 4 boys. We also have several cats who have adopted us.
